Cranes, aerial lifts and utilities

Truck-mounted cranes, knuckle-boom or telescopic, are fitted behind the cab of models from the NQR81K to the FVZ34, with a drop-side body for the load. For live power-line work, insulated aerial lifts reach 12 m on the NMR85H and NPS81H 4×4, and 15 m on the NQR81K.

Body options

  • Knuckle-boom or telescopic crane behind the cab
  • Insulated telescopic aerial platform with 360° turret
  • Pole carrier: low drop-side with H-beam
  • LPG cylinder carrier

GVW from the manufacturer’s brochure, as on each model’s page. Typical reach are typical body-builder figures from the Isuzu East Africa Truck Application Guide, March 2022; the body built for you may differ. What a truck can legally carry depends on the body fitted, so check your load in the payload calculator or ask TMD.

Choosing a crane

  • Start from the load: its size, its weight, and how far from the truck it must be lifted. Reach reduces lifting capacity.
  • The crane's own weight counts against what the truck can carry, so a heavier crane leaves less for the load.
  • Check the ground at your sites: outriggers need firm footing.

Questions

What buyers ask

  • How high can an Isuzu aerial lift reach?

Typically 12 m on the NMR85H and NPS81H 4×4, and 15 m on the NQR81K, with insulated booms for live electrical work.

  • Knuckle-boom or telescopic crane?

A knuckle-boom folds compactly behind the cab and places loads precisely; a telescopic boom reaches further in a straight line. The right one depends on your loads, the lift radius and the site.
